All children are wonderful. We know that. But as a mother of a son, I have a very special bond with other “boy moms.” Em had revealed to me that she was expecting another child when we were working a wedding together last summer (she is a fantastic wedding planner), and of course, I was very happy for her. Imagine my excitement, upon sweet baby Gable’s arrival some months later, that I would get the pleasure of taking their new family of four’s portraits! Within their beautiful home, amidst renovations and their son Hutchin’s toy dinosaurs and puzzles, we shot their family portraits with the winter light softly filtering through the windows. I love shooting portraits like this – an honest and a true reflection of a family’s space and life. Let’s face it, real life isn’t pristine, homes are filled with the day to day items we scatter on tables, blankets lay unfolded on couches where we recently snuggled our children, and coffee mugs waiting to be washed. That’s family life, and in my opinion, having some of that which fills our days in the background for photos makes the images more authentic. So, we relaxed, embraced all this, and captured some wonderful images for the beautiful and sweet family Em and Dominic have created. Enjoy.
Congratulations Em, Dominic, Hutchin & Gable!
