There is something about the light in September that is unique to this time of year alone…it is still warm, still summer light, but uniquely so, not like July or August. And in this way, it makes photographing weddings, with their delicate fabrics, romantic flowers and lovely colors, particularly special. For Kate & Robert’s wedding at the historic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut, this beautiful, late-day light was bouncing around in the trees and off the water, wrapping itself around everyone and everything so beautifully. I wish I could’ve slowed down the sun’s setting to take advantage of even more time for photographs of the couple in this magical light. But, the ceremony awaited us on the North Lawn of the Seaport and it was time for the high school sweethearts to exchange their vows, which they did while the sun slowly slipped behind the trees on the opposite bank of the Mystic River. Sparks of light reflected off the water like brilliant flashing fireflies and suddenly, Kate & Robert were finally husband and wife. It was an amazing evening all around and I am happy to share these images with them and with you.
Congratulations Kate & Robert! I loved capturing your wedding day and wish you the very best in your life together!
beautiful pictures and absolutely correct about the lighting and the romantic affect.
