Susan Sancomb Photography: Wedding Collage #1

Perhaps it’s my love of graphic design, along with photography, that  makes me love placing images together in collages. This collage is comprised of images form my 2009 wedding season. Just another way to present my work and also something I can easily create for my clients as well (with their names and wedding date…

Tyrone Farm, Pomfret, CT: Wedding Collage

Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people through my photography business, many of whom have become close friends. Photographing weddings and portraits has also enabled me to travel throughout RI and southern New England and discover places I had never been before. One of my favorite new locations is Tyrone…

Becky + Brian, Maternity session

Three years ago I had the pleasure of photographing Brian & Becky’s beautiful wedding at Glen Manor in Portsmouth, RI. The weather was perfect, the setting spectacular, but even better was the obvious joy and contentedness this couple brings to each other. So, I was thrilled to recently discover that Becky is expecting with their…

Lynne + Sean, Kinney Bungalow Wedding 10.15.10

Lynne and Sean’s wedding was last October at Kinney Bungalow in Narragansett. I didn’t have a chance to blog it last fall, so here you are – a gorgeous autumn wedding in Southern New England. I loved the vintage feel of Lynne’s gown and the dramatic train. Sean patiently waiting for his lovely bride. Lynne’s…

Jeremy + Jocelyn’s Engagement session, Stonington, CT & Watch Hill, RI

I was lucky enough to meet Jeremy and Jocelyn through an introduction by my husband, Chris. We decided to meet for their engagement session at the beautiful Jonathan Edwards Winery in Stonington, CT just after a big snowfall. Luckily, the inside of the winery is open and airy with gorgeous, warm-toned wood all over the…

South County Bridal Show 1.16.11 the Towers, Narragansett, RI

Yesterday was the 4th annual South County Bridal Show held at local historic landmark, The Towers, across from Narragansett Beach. The event is organized by South County Tourism Council. I love participating in this show because it’s a great size, intimate and filled with talented, south county-based vendors. For the most part, we have worked…

Brian + Margaret, New Year’s Day Wedding 1.1.11, Stonington, CT

What better way to start off posting on my brand spanking new blog, than with the absolutely gorgeous wedding I photographed for Brian and Margaret on 1.1.11. The ceremony was held at St. Patrick’s Church in Mystic, CT and the reception was at Salt Water Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT. www.fancypantseventplanning.com Salt Water Farm Vineyard…

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
