Rhode Island High School Senior Portrait & Family Photographer

Another wonderful high school senior portrait session. I had a great time meeting and photographing this senior and her family! I always enjoy hearing about the interests and plans of seniors as they enter their final year of high school and prepare for college selections. I was so impressed by this young woman’s passion for…

A Mother & Her River: Narragansett, Rhode Island Maternity & Family Photographer

Elizabeth is also a photographer which made taking her portraits both exciting and a little intimidating. When we spoke about doing a trade of family portraits for each other, we also discussed taking some maternity portraits of her alone. After capturing portraits of Elizabeth with her husband and two adorable daughters, we walked the length…

Dayna & Ryan are Married at Castle Hill Inn: Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Mother Nature gave Dayna & Ryan August weather that most couples dream about for their wedding day. Blue skies, dry air, light breezes and a gorgeous sunset. The setting they chose to celebrate their marriage was the Castle Hill Inn which is located at the southern most tip of Newport on Aquidneck Island. It’s historic,…

Sweet Little Michael Tucker: Rhode Island Baby Photographer

Sweet little Michael Tucker has arrived and joined the amazing family I have had the pleasure of capturing during so many of their life events. He is a such an adorable baby, but is happiest in his mama’s arms. Luckily, he gave us a few moments to capture some images of his sweet little face…

Three Generations at the Beach: Rhode Island Family Photographer

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the absolutely wonderful Clark family (three generations of them!) at Sand Hill Cove beach in Narragansett, RI (yes, yes, I know it’s now called “Salty Brine Beach,” but I am a true South County native and it will forever be Sand Hill Cove to me). Little Ben is…

Amy & Isvel are Married!: Mystic, Connecticut Wedding Photographer

Amy & Isvel had a beautiful wedding day surrounded by their children and families in the quaint New England seaside towns of Niantic & Mystic, Connecticut. Getting ready photos were taken at family beach homes that have generations of memories for Amy’s family. Then, after a lovely ceremony at St. Francis Chapel, the celebration continued…

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
