Look at Those Baby Blues: Avondale, Rhode Island Family Photographer

I recently photographed this little cutie, Parker, and his family during a warm summer evening session. I just fell in love with this sweetie and his brilliant, smiling blue eyes and had to share this portrait right away. He reminds me so much of my younger brother as a baby, with that wisp of towhead…

Hitting Some Milestones- My Own Family’s Portrait!

Hi Everybody! I don’t post a lot of photos of myself or my family. Partially out of privacy, but also, I am almost never IN any photos because I am always taking them. And that’s usually the way I prefer it. But this is a year of milestones and it was definitely time for a…

Baby Gable Makes Four: Rhode Island Family Portrait Photographer

All children are wonderful. We know that. But as a mother of a son, I have a very special bond with other “boy moms.” Em had revealed to me that she was expecting another child when we were working a wedding together last summer (she is a fantastic wedding planner), and of course, I was…

Sweet Little Newborn, Steven: Rhode Island Baby & Family Photographer

I couldn’t resist posting a sneak peek image of this sweet little, snuggly newborn, Steven. I had the pleasure of photographing his mother & father’s wedding a few years ago, and the honor of taking Steven’s first official portraits as well! Such a gift for a photographer to get to chronicle a family’s biggest moments.…

Reid is a Big Brother! Welcome Baby Sister Bridget: Rhode Island & Massachusetts Family Portrait Photographer

In 2012 I had the pleasure of photographing Tristan & Katie’s wedding on Block Island. It was a beautiful day in every aspect and the newlyweds quickly become some of my favorite clients ever. We’ve stayed in touch, and a little over two years ago they had their first child, a son, Reid. Two weeks…

Cathryn & Anthony’s Memorial Day Weekend Wedding in Narragansett, Rhode Island

This wedding was a hometown favorite for me! Getting ready photos at The Break Hotel, a South Ferry Church wedding ceremony and reception at The Towers – all three locations so perfectly South County, Rhode Island – and unique in their own way to this gorgeous coastal town where I live and work.  I can’t think…

Schold Family: Narragansett, Rhode Island Family Portrait Photographer

I love photographing the Schold Family’s portraits every year. Tara & Ross are raising such fun, intelligent, polite and interesting boys, which is not surprising because they are two incredibly funny people themselves and our sessions are always filled with laughter. It’s always a pleasure to spend an hour or so with them catching up…

Hi there

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
