It was such a pleasure to photograph this lovely young woman that I have known since she was a toddler. It is amazing to witness and capture these young people in my life (and the families that find me for portraiture) as they grow, marking specific times in their lives with a special portrait. Hailey’s…

April showers brought only happiness and joy as Aaron & Jessica celebrated their wedding at the elegant Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. The couple’s love of travel, adventure, ethnic food, and trying new experiences brought them together, so they wanted to hold their wedding in a location that was an interesting travel destination for them as well…

I had a wonderful time photographing Kailey’s senior portraits. She is an impressive young woman and was a pleasure to photograph. While taking her portraits Kailey was telling me about her interesting and varied high school experiences, plans for the future and where she would like to attend college. I think it is my excitement…

I am a wedding and portrait photographer, but I am also a gardener in New England, which means that by the time March ends and April begins I am itching to get outside and start planting flowers and veggies. That’s a bit too early for this zone, but luckily I had a wedding at Rosecliff Mansion…

Marisa & Jake’s love story is the classic Rhode-Island-girl-meets-midwestern-boy-and-they-fall-in-love-in-college-story. Well, maybe that’s not a classic scenario, but since that is also how my husband and I met and fell in love, I suppose I am partial to it. Marisa & Jake met in graduate school at Syracuse University studying kinesiology. They traveled to Rhode Island for a visit so…

Anyone who knows me knows I am passionate about animals, especially rescue dogs. Growing up, we had cats as pets, and while I loved those kitties, I always wanted a dog as well. As a mother myself, I now understand why my mom didn’t want to take on one more creature to take care of…

I had a great time photographing Devin’s high school senior portraits last autumn. He’s a kind, intelligent, athletic, friendly young man with a bright future and was a natural in front of the camera. Since he runs indoor and outdoor track for his high school, we met at a nearby track for some athletic images. It…

Jessica & Michael’s wedding was held on a lovely, mid-summer day at two of my favorite South County, Rhode Island locations – South Ferry Church and The Towers in Narragansett. Both venues are so quintessentially coastal New England, with beautiful architectural details and quaint charm. And since Jessica is an architect, finding locations that were…

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
