2023 Top Nine Instagram Posts Susan Sancomb Photo

Greetings and Happy New Year! As I write this post, we are already two weeks into 2024 and the activity of the holiday season of 2023 is fading into a lovely memory. Every year, I participate in looking back at my most “liked” instagram posts as a way of reflecting on my own memories of…

Sneak Peek of Kaleigh & Charles’ Summer Celebration at Oceancliff: Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Hot off the presses – and I do mean HOT – is this little sneak peek image I was too excited about to wait to share with you! Kaleigh & Charles’ wedding was so fun, and so very hot! Mother Nature flipped the switch for steamy summer days in Newport, RI just in time for…

Cathryn & Anthony’s Memorial Day Weekend Wedding in Narragansett, Rhode Island

This wedding was a hometown favorite for me! Getting ready photos at The Break Hotel, a South Ferry Church wedding ceremony and reception at The Towers – all three locations so perfectly South County, Rhode Island – and unique in their own way to this gorgeous coastal town where I live and work.  I can’t think…

Aaron & Jessica’s Springtime Wedding Celebration at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island

April showers brought only happiness and joy as Aaron & Jessica celebrated their wedding at the elegant Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. The couple’s love of travel, adventure, ethnic food, and trying new experiences brought them together, so they wanted to hold their wedding in a location that was an interesting travel destination for them as well…

Dave & Kaitlin’s Romantic, Coastal Wedding at The Ocean House: Watch Hill, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Watch Hill has always been one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. Until the recent spotlight placed on it due to it’s newest famous resident, Taylor Swift, it was a sleepy summer town on the southwestern most corner of our state. The historic “Flying Horses” carousel still runs next to the beach, and children…

A Beautiful French Village Wedding for Amy & Michel: Ecot-la-Combe, Burgundy, France Wedding Photographer

Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of traveling to Ecot-la-Combe, a beautiful, picturesque, 13th century village tucked in the rolling countryside of southeast Burgundy, France near Langres. The reason for my travels was the wedding celebration of Amy & Michel (aka DJ). DJ’s family has been in residence in Ecot-la-Combe for several generations, so…

Hi there

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
