A rain storm blew through Rhode Island just before my scheduled engagement session with Heather & Seth at Jim’s Dock in Matunuck. When the rain finally stopped we were left with a dramatic sky full of dark clouds, and some truly amazing light.
Jim’s Dock is not only a great, casual restaurant on the water (which is dog-friendly for outside dining – woohoo!), but it has a classic New England, coastal vibe. The exterior, with it’s buoys, signs and siding, reminds me of Rhode Island’s answer to the classic photographs I love of general store exteriors in the southern U.S. by Walker Evans. I used an “action” in photoshop to lend a vintage feel to this image of Heather & Seth. Honestly, it was hard to get a photograph of them not laughing!
We had the craziest rainbow across the harbor. Rather than a rain-bow, it was more like a shaft of sunlight came through to make a rain-segment. Still, it was beautiful and unique, just like Heather & Seth 🙂
I can’t think of a better note to end our session on than this dramatic image of the clearing storm clouds.
Heather & Seth, I am so glad we had the opportunity to spend some time together before your wedding day and capture some fun photos for you.
Enjoy your summer – I’ll see you in August!
Awesome work Susan, Thanks for the great pictures. For such a questionable day they came out amazing.
Seth
