Misha & Shepard were married late last summer at the Mason’s Island Yacht Club, just off mainland Mystic, Connecticut. Shepard and her family have been members for decades and she spent so many idyllic summers at the club that she knew it would be the perfect, lovely, low-key location for she and her fiance to celebrate their marriage. And since Shepard and Misha first met on a beach in Costa Rica (both were visiting a mutual friend at his vacation home in Rincon) the waterfront seemed like the perfect way to continue their beach theme. With a classic New England ocean backdrop, the couple exchanged their vows under the arcing branches of a graceful tree on the southern lawn. Sailboats floated by and others floated at their moorings as the sun slowly set and guests enjoyed a raw bar, cocktails and the gentle sunset of September. It was honestly one of the most beautiful evenings I can remember and exactly what the newlyweds deserved for their celebration.

The day was made even more special for me as ten years ago I photographed the wedding of Shepard’s sister, Sarah, and her husband just down the road at the Mystic Inn, as well as another couple in attendance, Calla & Matt, so the wedding was a sweet mini-reunion of sorts as well!
