An Amazing Wedding Day for Naomi & Peter: Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Naomi & Peter’s beautiful, amazing, natural and fun wedding in South Kingstown & Newport, Rhode Island. We had a great time with this amazingly sweet couple! Gorgeous bouquets by Weedweaver’s of Wakefield. The Tall Ships were in town during their wedding, and added another gorgeous element to the backdrop of Naomi & Peter’s harborside ceremony.…

Midwest Meets New England – Betsy & Kevin are Married! Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Betsy & Kevin met several years ago while both were on vacation in Florida – she from Indiana and he from Northern Rhode Island. Who could imagine that a simple trip down south to escape the cold winter weather would result in meeting the person you want to spend the rest of your life with?…

Lauren & Ben are Married at Belle Mer: Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Lauren & Ben were married on a day that happens so rarely in New England – brilliant, blue, cloudless skies and warm, dry breezes. Add to that an exceptionally sweet couple and a gorgeous setting and you have Lauren & Ben’s wedding day. It couldn’t have happened for a nicer couple. I loved being a…

Baby Liliana Has Finally Arrived! : Rhode Island Newborn Photographer

In July of 2010 I had the pleasure of photographing Lynn & Jay’s beautiful Narragansett wedding. So, when Lynn contacted me this year about maternity and newborn portraits, I felt so honored to continue to be a part of the big moments in their lives. Seeing them as expectant parents was fun, but meeting their…

Seth & Heather’s Stormy Engagement Session by the Sea: Matunuck, Rhode Island Engagement Photographer

A rain storm blew through Rhode Island just before my scheduled engagement session with Heather & Seth at Jim’s Dock in Matunuck. When the rain finally stopped we were left with a dramatic sky full of dark clouds, and some truly amazing light. Jim’s Dock is not only a great, casual restaurant on the water…

A Beautiful South County Wedding for Erin & Dave: Narragansett, Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

From the moment I first spoke with Erin about the wedding she was planning from Los Angeles, I knew we would get along. She is kind, thoughtful, fun and interesting. And her husband, Dave, is exactly the same. They were so easy to work with and such a joy to be around. The forecast for…

About Susan

My wedding and portrait photography business is located in the heart of South County, Rhode Island close to URI and the scenic, south coast beaches. I grew up here and feel so lucky to be able to work and create in such a beautiful location! My approach to photography is much like my approach to life: creative, relaxed, natural and fun. I would describe my style as a blend of candid & photojournalistic with traditional & artistic images. I love taking the time to create some beautiful, romantic portraits of my brides & grooms, but also the spontaneous moments throught the wedding day.

I consider my website and blog a place where I can visually journal about the amazing people and places I get to photograph. Not only do I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be making a living taking photographs for people at important moments in their lives, but I also get to meet an amazing cross section of people I might not otherwise get to know. In the ten years I have been in business, I have had the chance to photograph couples riding high on the excitement of their recent engagement, on their wedding day, parents-to-be waiting to meet their new child, newborn babies, children marking milestone birthdays and families who want to remember a certain time in their lives by capturing it in a photographic portrait.

In more recent years, I have had the opportunity to photograph the weddings of younger siblings and friends of previous wedding clients, and the maternity, newborn and family portraits of couples whose weddings I photographed in years past. It feels amazing to know my creative vision of these occasions is a part of their lives and their family history and I am grateful for each and every one of them. When I say I love what I do, it is from a genuine place. I can't imagine doing anything else and feeling as creativly satisfied and pleased to make my clients happy.

I studied photography at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for undergraduate school and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
